    Poem Commentary

This is dedicated to Shirley Cheek, frail but not to the gates yet...

    I’ll never forget

Your smile so kind and your heart so true

On the 12th of August is when I knew

You won’t always be with me and soon I will find

The memories of this day, fresh in my mind

I feel so lucky God picked you as my mom

I wouldn’t change a thing, so I wrote you this song

I’ll never forget the way you held me

    When I was feeling sick

I’ll never forget your kisses or the funny times you’d pick

I’ll never forget your discipline and the way it made me heal

The soreness in my heart with time I can deal

I miss you but I just know

Where your going, is where I want to go

Give Dad a hug and tell him that I still care

Give Dad a kiss, until the day that I can get there

I just know when you got there

    The angels began to sing

Knowing the love of the Lord

    That only you could bring

    I’ll never forget you mom

And this is how I end my song

I hesitate to disturb the sanctity of this beautiful song delivered in such an eloquent fashion so forgive me while I simply say..nicely done.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
