I Saw You Today
I saw you today
You looked pretty okay.
Pretty great,
Yeah, pretty freaking great.
You didn’t see me at first.
I pretended I hadn’t seen you.
When I looked up,
Our eyes met.
Yours confused,
Mine afraid.
That maybe you wouldn’t,
Wouldn’t recognize me.
When you smiled I hid
The relief I felt.
Hoping you assumed
The redness on my face was
Just a reflection,
From my shirt,
Or that sign…
Or maybe,
Maybe you knew exactly
What my face was saying.
I swear you looked taller,
In that white shirt and jeans.
With your smile,
That could always melt my heart.
And when you sat in the only place,
The only place we could see each other,
I found my self wishing…
Wishing that…
But of course that’s just ridiculous.
You looked pretty okay.
Pretty great,
Yeah, pretty freaking great.
You didn’t see me at first.
I pretended I hadn’t seen you.
When I looked up,
Our eyes met.
Yours confused,
Mine afraid.
That maybe you wouldn’t,
Wouldn’t recognize me.
When you smiled I hid
The relief I felt.
Hoping you assumed
The redness on my face was
Just a reflection,
From my shirt,
Or that sign…
Or maybe,
Maybe you knew exactly
What my face was saying.
I swear you looked taller,
In that white shirt and jeans.
With your smile,
That could always melt my heart.
And when you sat in the only place,
The only place we could see each other,
I found my self wishing…
Wishing that…
But of course that’s just ridiculous.
