Hypocracy on Stage

Hypocracy on Stage

Mingled words arranged complex to sound

Indeed do function to baffle and confound

The sharpest whit that reads knowledge to gain

Reading obscure messages—fails to obtain.

Sophistication standardized by n’one

Ideas and style accepted by everyone

They themselves perplexed but say it not

Just wander in their boast and never taught.

Foolish do they seem in pauper eyes

They live life in overt disguise

And use cloaked words to cleverly conceal

That which isn’t seen but we all know is real.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
