Control

Gain a friend and lose a mate
Fall in love or chose to wait
Love and make your heart to cry
Smile and hide an obvious lie

Take a lonely cheerless heart
Break it, make it fall apart
Give it back and turn around
Forget about the stifling sound

Lose a friend to gain a mate
Fall in love or start to hate
Love and never say "goodbye"
Smile and promise "til I die"

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
