    Poem Commentary

This poem is not about a boyfriend. It is about my father leaving me when i was six.

    How Could He Leave? (pantoum)

That night I cried for him

    My tears refused to cease

    Shredding pain from within

    How could he abandon me?

    My tears refused to cease

    Boiling hot and stinging

    How could he abandon me?

    My sobbing turned to screaming

    Boiling hot and stinging

    My heart ready to explode

    My sobbing turned to screaming

As he drove off down the road

    My heart ready to explode

    Shredding pain from within

He drove off down the road

That was the night I cried for him.

this really touched me - the style and the emotion. i've been reading through your poems and can't wait to read more! i think you're really talented and expressive for someone so young. keep writing!

    thank you :)

Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.
