    Poem Commentary

I just lost my dog who was the best friend a man could have. He was always there for me and with me. He did not change on me like some people. He always had love for me. I miss him in a way I can't explain he knows the real me. When I sat he sat beside me. When I slept he slept beside the bed he was my shadow. I Miss Him So so much.......

    Farewell My Friend

A day has passed and I’m still shedding tears

I don’t know what to do I miss my friend

I remember him as a baby we grew together for years

Two days ago I buried my friend

He was my son my companion my baby truly part of me

But most of all my friend

My heart is broken my world is spinning I’m finding it hard to breathe

I feel I lost it all, my friend

Lord I know you have your way but I can’t see it for the tears I cry

    For my friend

I stood helpless watching him die he knew it I saw it in his left eye

    My friend

After his last breath I carried his limp body till he stiffened

    My friend

If there was any thing I had to give to save him I would have given

Give it all for my friend

His body is buried in grand mamma’s yard and his memory in my heart

    Rest my friend

Lord please have a heaven for my dog and a new journey for him to start

He was the best my friend

He was there when everyone seemed to turn away

    My friend

When there was little we shared I’ll love and miss him till my last day

    Farewell my friend

I loved your poem, but I am crying. Its hard to write. My cat was hit by a car in June because he couldn't see out of one eye, as he was attacked by an owl previously, anyway. I am very very sorry for your loss and I know how it helps to write.

It was closer to losing a child than I want to be, I miss him still!

Yes it was untimely he got into some poison that they sat out for rodents. He was just like my child. Thank you for reading.

Thank you for your comment.. He was just like a child to me, my children called him their brother.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
