Box Turtle
Have you heard of such a thing that has a shell and takes no wing?
Can any creature live or dead be marked with but a spindling thread?
Upon examination here I have determined without fear
That doubt upon this subject be quite propostorous to me.
A little being I am sure will have the answer or the cure
To such a simple problem this for which is marked with simple kiss.
For only one can fix our plight that here we share on this dark night.
This thing I have described to you is a thing both green and blue.
It has four legs and speckled skin, and with a house like snail akin.
It moves at speeds which we think slow but to itself is all it knows.
It has but meager stripes it wears, without any furs or hairs.
Have you figured out this thing which has a shell and takes no wing?
Box turtle therefore it must be! 'Tis only thing makes sense to me.
For lives on land and blinks its eyes, while light is coming from the skies.
"Why is it so?" You may ask now, "why is it like this and how?"
There is but one thing to say, as the night turns into day,
God will shape it as He list, for creation's in His fist.
If you don't believe me so, I know a place where you can go.
Get down on your knees and pray, it matters not in night or day.
Anywhere and any why, send your thoughts up to the sky.
For He listens and He cares, about the turtle, fish and hare.
But he also cares for you, and this last thought shall ring out true.
