Asking Why

Why can no one get along
And sing together in one song?
Why can't there be a single peace
Where all the wars and battles ceace?
Why must there be a constant fight
Between the darkness and the light?
Why can't we all find solid ground
Where God is King and conscience sound?
Why are there famines, floods and quakes
From crashing rocks to boiling lakes?
Why must we meddle in affairs
That belong to things "upstairs?"
Why cannot we see eye to eye
With God who lives up in the sky?
Why do people think what's fair
Is just a tangle in their hair?
I pray to God that we can see
That trusting Him's what we must be.
And with this prayer I say to you
My friends at heart and brothers true,
The Lord your God has found us all
Through lightless world and mighty thrall.

An excellent poem. It flowed beautifully and rhymed well.

These are very good questions all should ponder. God is almighty and this is a testament to that! Very nice philosophical poem!

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
