'YESTODAY'

Yesterday
I thrill at the joy
and embrace Christ
who cleanses me in
His blood.
Yesterday
I sorrow at the pain
empathically of the unsaved
having a burden for their change.
Today
I discern
that the twain
are not
mutually exclusive

Austin G. Henry

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
