What I Saw

What I Saw

When I looked into your eyes,
I saw so much in them.
I saw pain,
I saw hurt,
I saw a wall,
That had been built against the world.
I saw a man who would understand,
The things that I knew,
Things that I felt,
And things that I had seen,
Throughout my life.
I soon realized,
That I had met a man who could see into me.
A man that knew how I felt,
When others did not.
A man that dared to look into my eyes,
With no fear of what he would find.
I fell in love with that man.
I married that man.
That man is you.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
