    Twilight

    Twilight

Sitting under the cover of an infant blue and orange twilight,
I realize that you never loved me.

Touching and kissing were just games we played when we got bored
And the plans we made were stories we told ourselves when movie plots grew old.

The particles of light that descended and lit our way were really just household flashlights
But when you spoke those silly words, I took out my headphones and listened.

My look was hypnotic and that’s how I took you,
But to keep you would require more of me. More that I don’t want to give.

Making love under the cover of an infant blue and orange twilight,
I realize that I never loved you.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.
