    Truth

                                    Truth

I have been on a journey to discover myself,
Something people do all the time.
On the the day I returned I found I had wealth,
Not in silver or gold but in rhyme.
I was nervous as I sat with paper and pen,
The words flashing by on a ticker tape screen.
If I missed them I would not see them again!
I was scared and afraid what did it all mean.
The message in these words seemed to dwell,
On the way we abuse our home, our planet Earth.
These words I had to write down, and one day tell,
Just simple words, some may think of little worth.
If one person should take time to read them,
And it makes them stop and think.
Of the slaughter each day of animals and men,
Take care or we will all soon be extinct.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
