Through the Depths of Darkness, A Gift Shall Arise

Through the Depths of Darkness, A Gift Shall Arise

Though the journey was long and lonely
And paved with the many tears I've cried,
Though I've made mistakes and some bad choices
It wasn't for the lack that I tried.

Though at times my heart ached so badly
I'd thought it would break in two,
And the vast emptiness engulfed me so completely
Breathing was sometimes hard to do.

And though I've seen blood spilt
And spilt some of my own,
I would gladly have been bled dry
To not feel quite so alone.

I walked this earth a lone soul
With weighted boots and an army behind.
Always fighting a cause I knew not
And for reasons I could not find.

For every small feat accomplished
A new, more challenging quest was set.
Always an uphill battle
My life was lived in universal debt.

Then just as I had given up
On the adolescent dream,
I saw a distant light shining
A brightly lit beam.

And as all of my hope
Had just run out,
The warmth of your light
Melted away all of my doubt.

And there you were, My other half
One journey over, yet another begins.
Now my blood runs warm and each breath comes easily
Darkness fades and the Light finally wins...

And two path will merge into one. Nicely done. The feeling of being lost in life and how finding your other half chases the darkness away. Good write, TS

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
