The Spirit of a Native American

Anything with freedom, allows us to soar

brings us closer to who we are

For spirit is free, no boundaries enclose thee

The ground, the trees, the water, the seas,

The moon, the stars, everything is ours

The eagle flies becomes our eyes

The fish swim we speak with him

And as we sit around the fire

our spirits flying higher and higher

the moon starts taking a shape

glowing in the water across the lake

stars twinkling so bright

as they shine and light the night

A voice we hear, a spirit does appear

He tells us a story, one that's very true

A Native American, speaks to me and you

The wisdom that he shows, comes from what he knows

The earth has been his teacher, now he becomes the preacher

He tells us what it's worth why we should love Mother Earth

Wow...very enlightening words of inspiration and wisdom. You paint a very vivid picture of The Spirit of a Native, makes me wish I was a native. Good job...check out some of my work and tell me what you think. 1LOVE

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
