Christmas on the Water

Click, click, click and it's not reindeer hoofs
            On the roofs
Click, click, click are the shrouds from a boat
            In the water...afloat
Marshmallows roasting not in an open fire
In an electric grill flamed by a wire
The aroma of turkey, stuffing, and ham
Come from the campfires beside the dam
Snow capped mountains seen from afar
Mirage the water lit up by a star
No houses to hang your Christmas lights to
Just sail boats, cabin cruisers or maybe a sea do
With the wind in you face it's hard to tell
If it's snowing outside or just a swell
Carolers singing "You better be good for goodness sake"
Heard by every boat that's out on the lake
Christmas on the water what a celebrated site
Ahoy mate....and to all a calm night

Poems of Christmas are hard to do, I have 2 This one is awesome, I like the In an electric grill flamed by a wire part, lol

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
