The Garden of Eden
Someone has been here a long time before me
I know they have
Wish I could know them
I would ask if they would do it again
Lay me down in a bed of daisy's
Because roses always die too soon
I want to bloom just like a flower
I want to choose the hour
When the sun shines on me
I want to be thirsty for the rain
I want a love without pain
Living in the Garden of Eden
I wonder what she was needing?
City woman, country girl
Religious that is for sure
A woman just like her
Living in the Garden of Eden
Sometimes it feels like
History is repeating itself
Marigolds, tulips, lillies in the field
Life is such a battlefield
It's so hard to yield
So lay me down in pink carnations
I'm one of God's creations
Let me dream
It's who I am
Never want to lay down in them
Cause roses always die too soon
Living in the Garden of Eden
I can hear the words he was feeding her
The first woman to be deceived
It's him she believed
Banned from the Garden of Eden
Her heart was bleeding
Dandelions disguised just like a flower
She chose the hour
of her doom
Roses always die too soon
Morning glories and wedding bells
Love always has a story to tell
Like an angel that fell
I know it well
Baby's breath and cacktails
What if love fails
Roses always die too soon
Which is greater?
The sun or the moon?
Roses are red like a heart that's bleeding
I wonder what she was needing
When she lived in the Garden of Eden
Flowers don't have a free will
So let me be a daffodil
Plant me on your window sill
Give me water when I need to drink
Acknowledge me when I'm dressed in pink
Don't ever think
That my love does not need you to grow
I will always need you to show
Your love for me
I don't know which is greater, the sun or the moon?
Cause roses always die too soon
So lets bathe in the sun
Let's always be one
Don't promise me roses
Causes roses always die too soon
So let's just make love under the moon
And when the sun comes up to shine
Promise me . . you will always be mine
I know they have
Wish I could know them
I would ask if they would do it again
Lay me down in a bed of daisy's
Because roses always die too soon
I want to bloom just like a flower
I want to choose the hour
When the sun shines on me
I want to be thirsty for the rain
