    The Flirt

    THE FLIRT

    Spring teases seductively,
A few warm days and mild nights.
The the wolves of winter snap at her heels.
The North wind screams obscenities, as
    They push her away.

    The trees yawn and stretch,
Roll over for another 40 winks.
Soon it’ll be time to get up and go to work.

    Spring retreats,
With a twinkle in her eyes
    And a secret smile.
    She’ll win, she knows.

    Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
