The Devils Chase

I sit and watch the dark clouds rush by me.
The darkness is creeping up to smother me.
I cant run I'm trapped in a corner of this world.
Hoping i a can resist the temptation.
A full on heart, blackened by the sun.
I cannot scream, i cannot run.
A devils kiss upon my cheek.
Over the thorny footpath that leads me there.
I will not cry out in despair.
A chance to make it.
A chance to live.
I will protect my soul, against his merciful hands.
He wants my soul.
He wants my love.
Ill never go, except for a above.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
