The Beautiful Goodbye
My day opens to the sound of life.
Grounded are my wings unable to fly.
Quite are my lips so not to shatter the silence.
I walk among you though you can not see me.
I whisper to you and you do not hear me.
Your mind transfixed on something but what?
Your eyes tell the story in vivid color
Your smile so alluring with lips so soft and supple
And then it happens, you look my way and my wings
Begin to unfold; my lips begin to form a sentence
Fluttered in illusion I drink the moment in careful with
My words as not to spill the essence of my metaphor
I feel as if waves are pulling me out to sea away from
You, though this ebb tide will not so easily silence me
Formed are my words crafted with false bravado
And yet I still am transfixed in your very essence
Unable yet to still whisper any salvation of words
I step back in a moment in time when we were
One and realize not only have you been there
But you are still there for your eyes; yes your eyes
Are the channels at witch we sail through to see?
Our past, present, future….
