Recognize The Need To Resist

Temptations surround me, so inviting-
Yet allergic to it’s poison…my body forever craves it’s sweetness.
Oh, just one bite!
At times I would die for a single taste!
Yet, Love surrounds me – I cannot do it…for His children need me.
How would they find their way in the dark
If I sacrificed them for my temptation?

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
