Poem Commentary

Lennox's rainy morning blues. This is a song i wrote for my 3 year old grandson when we had a really rough time trying to keep him from running outside to play in the rain.

Rainy Painy Morning

The morning has come but the sky’s still dark;

Sad news at breakfast, we won’t be going to the park.

I see the lightening flash and I hear the thunder boom

I can’t go outside; I have to play in my room ……

Now the sky has opened and rain starts to fall

I can’t see the yard from my windows at all

Something’s going to happen, this I can assume

‘cause were stuck inside this house; I have to stay here in my room …..

The storm is here and the wind blows

We run through the house and close the windows

Hopefully the rain can wash away this gloom

We’re all here inside, playing in my room ……..

Soon the rain has stopped but the grass is wet

So I still can’t go out to play just yet

I’m about to cry; this rain has ruined my day

There’s nothing else in my room I want to play …..

Then the sun starts to shine and the birds sing sweet

I’m going out the door with my boots on my feet

Splashes and sploshes in my red galoshes

A rainbow in the sky and I remember why …….

I luuuuuuuuuuuuvvvvvvv the rain!

Interesting poem. However, the rhymn seems overworked and the meter is good, but, I prefer that the poem could be more concise using fewer words to express what you have written. You do paint a good picture in the readers mind.

FANTASTIC JOB!!!!!! You have warmed my heart and made me remember why I loved being a kid.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
