  • SPRING BREAK IS OVER NOW SO I WON'T BE ON AS MUCH

Paper Memorial

Sticky notes
On my screen
So it is now
No longer clean
I don’t mind—
Really, it’s true
After all,
They’re reminding me of you

The thick and thin
Good and bad
Happy, fun,
Longing, sad
All we’ve been through
All we said we’d do
Never quite sure
What suggestion was from who

Times of grief
And times of fun
That time your hair caught
In bubble gum
Times of words
And times of quiet
Times of pretending
We were giants

But the volume has turned down
Now that you are underground
No more nightlights
No more screams
No more laughing, yelling things
No more juggling in the store
It is sad but it is true
No more me and no more you

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
