Guttered Candles

  • SPRING BREAK IS OVER NOW SO I WON'T BE ON AS MUCH

Guttered Candles

Now it is time to say good-bye

As darkness drains the eternal light

Ice freezes all

It is time for an endless winter night

Sing sad songs to ease the sorrow

Wishing there was happiness to borrow

Empty thoughts fill your head

Dying, crying, but never among the dead

Too dark to be living, breathing.

But too light to give up hope

Suicide consumes all thoughts in time

Now it is time for you to do the same

The spirit cries, the mind dies

Why won't you, can't you, die?

Give up hope

The spirits come

Let your soul part

With body disintegrating

To the being of insanity

A sick twisted thought fills his mind

Grabbing a knife and coming for you he asks

Can you play?

Only in your death will be

The break of spring's first day.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
