oopsy-daisy
if I'd have known better
I'd have never laid eyes on you
I would've diverted my attention
averted my line of sight
I'd have never even paid attention
to anything that had to do
with you
I'd have run as far away
as fast as my little legs could
carry me
anything to avoid
the ache you left in my soul
that you left for me
to bear alone
so you could laugh
maybe feel a bit superior
if I'd have only known
I would've at least been prepared
to bear the burden of you
that weighs my heart so heavy
it could be mistaken for stone
and at least I would've buffed up
so I wouldn't have to complain
of being way too weary
to lift my head
much less my feet
to trudge on
without you
I'd have never laid eyes on you
I would've diverted my attention
averted my line of sight
I'd have never even paid attention
to anything that had to do
with you
I'd have run as far away
as fast as my little legs could
carry me
anything to avoid
the ache you left in my soul
that you left for me
to bear alone
so you could laugh
maybe feel a bit superior
if I'd have only known
I would've at least been prepared
to bear the burden of you
that weighs my heart so heavy
it could be mistaken for stone
and at least I would've buffed up
so I wouldn't have to complain
of being way too weary
to lift my head
much less my feet
to trudge on
without you
