    nocturnal visitor

    when you wake
and feel the whisper of a kiss
    on your lips
    on your eyelids
    on your neck
    when you feel the remanence
    of goosebumps
    from a touch
    on your stomach
    on your back
    on your arms
when you feel the phantom warmth
    in your hands
    in your mouth
    in your heart
when you breathe and the smell of love
    fills your lungs
    and your mind
    and pervades your very soul
when that empty bed you lie in
    becomes so monstrous
    that you ache
    so deep your bones
    scream
    know
    that no matter how
    oblivious you are
    however brief it may seem
    that I laid beside you
    and kissed you
    and held you
    and loved you
    until the sun peeked out
and I had to slip back
    to my own empty bed

    thank you very much!
