Ode to My Friend Jeff (5/1/57-8/15/2004)

I'll miss him even though
it had been awhile
Since I heard his raspy voice
or seen his boyish smile

I wish I could've made myself
break through his sorrow-filled shell
Shed light upon his darkness
made him want to stay well

His life was short to others
but, his sadness made it seem long
Could I have changed his destiny
No, only he could choose to stay strong

I loved to walk-about with him
He knew so much about the wild
He dreamnt of moving to Hawaii
Growing orchids, living freestyle

I hope he finds true happiness
throughout eternity
tending celestial gardens
telling stories, living free

This is a beautiful, heart-felt tribute to a friend that you obviously still hold close to your heart. Great job.

ty-i still miss him every day-he could've and should've been someone great-now just a memory...Earthly

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
