Ode to a Junco
Flitting on the groundScavenging for seeds
Above death circled round
Out of the sky
fearsome 'hawkeye'
destroyed you in one bound
With precision and speed
it snatched you away
It's only nature's law
that ended your brief stay
Ode to a Junco

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.
Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
