    • I have been very ill. But I'm back.

    My Lonely Son

    My Lonely Son --

A cool breeze up from the sea
Passed me as I stood at his grave
A little boy that never stood
A little boy I never held
A little boy that was my son

    He'd be 12 and strong
But he died in the womb so long ago
Still born and gray, his spirit golden
    He's still my little boy
    He is my youngest one

He passed on a summer's day
    Amid his mother's tears
This son of ours, a boy, a gift
Worried was I with the coming of yet another
I had two, and anxious about the third

Now I am sorry, and long for his voice
A voice that will never touch me
Yet at times I feel a little hand take mine
As if to comfort me in my grief
I see an image of him when I am alone

This made me cry. isn't our capacity for love amazing . We love our children before we even know them. Once at a family reunion I remarked that family is the only place where 99% of the time you are loved just because you were born. I have seen cousins, aunts, grandparents, parents and siblings just love someone based on birth. It must be inherent in the human race. That is why you still love this unborn child so much. There is the 1% where this doesn't happen and it's so sad because look what they miss out on. I am sorry for your loss but moved by the love you still hold for your son.

Thanks. I am sorry for your loss also. The pain never goes, we just grow used to it.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
