    Monkey Man

I sit across barbed wire as my liver screams in agony
    It’s been 14 years since I’ve spoken a word
The silence scrapes across my ears like the rust colored fragments that I call memories
As soon as the chains are loosened up just enough to feel a sliver of comfort
They tighten up and slam me back into my pleasing form of agonizing discomfort
I spiral into my all too familiar vegetative concussion
1….2….3…..the drool slips from my lips
Explosions of plastic orgasms shimmer through my empty head
What did we used to say back in the day as we lined up a rail of cocaine and heroin
Hallelujah- white and brown become one
That didn’t seem as funny as it did back in the day
Is self destruction suicide or is suicide self destruction
Pale yellow skin and hollow shell is not much of a fight for monkey man
His perch has embedded into my back like a forest of thick vines
Penetration of the nothingness into my soul assures me he is laughing
Oh they all love to laugh with their wicked monkey smiles
I envision my children are smiling as arc angels lead them through the astral planes
The monkey man won’t let me see them
He just laughs laughs laughs as he fills up another rig
I force a smile cause who wants to live in sickness
    I live for the moment

Hy I'am Pluma and I like your poem. I can see that you know how use the language, but for may point of view it's a lttle technocal and poetry has to do more with emotions in the use of the language.

Your winning moment by moment and that is beautiful for each day brings a new horizon and you live to see and rise anew. Bless the struggling task at hand and claim it of your own power for it surrenders unto you.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

    Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
