Meant to Breathe Again

Meant to Breathe Again

Caught up in the past, escaping the future,
Though that isn't my wish.
What matters?  What gives?
My days are long nights with but a speck of light.
Want to fall into my salvation, my sanity of life.
I'm drowning in my own fate,
And in yours.
Can you relate?  Are you real?
Did I make you believe in miracles, or do you feel even more?
Eyes of mine are also yours.
We are connected, indeed we are real.
Meant to be freed.
Meant to breathe again.

Sometimes it's hard to break free of our own past, but there's nothing better to point our focus forward again, than someone new entering our life and maybe we haven't forgotten what's behind, but it's easier not to look back there...
