Poem Commentary

Keep believing in love...

Little Girls With Great Big Curls

Little girls
With great big curls
Eyes wide and blue
Dream many dreams in their little worlds
Hoping they will all come true

They dream of far away places
And sights that they've never seen
They dream with smiles on their faces
And visit lands where they've never been

Their minds race off to the clouds
Where dreams really do come true
And play in magical lands of wonder
Full of colors bright in hue

The dream that is the boldest
That plays over and over each day
Is the one where their own prince charming
Comes to carry them away

They see him as tall dark and handsome
Just like in the fairy tales
Living in a stately mansion
In Burgundy... or Whales

They travel and play together
And never grow apart
They paint the world with their love
And cherish each others hearts

The story never ends
Their love grows stronger day by day
They dance and laugh and sing
In their always merry way

Little girls with great big curls
I cannot lie to you
Those dream that you believe in
Do not always come true

But hold onto each dream
And keep them close at heart
Because never will you find true love
If your dreams depart

This was excellent. To mind came the song Thank Heavens For Little Girls, sang with a French accent. The last line of the fourth stanza got stuck on my tongue, I think it should be carry or Comes (and) carries.... either way it is an excellent write.

You ARE right..it should be carry! Thank you for that. Sometimes I typo because I am copying from what I wrote years ago and am always in a hurry :) Again thanks. Always appreciate such input. :)

That's right don't shatter dreams of love and happiness. The possibilities are unless when you dream. If we could just keep the innocense and hope of a child into adulthood. Umm...How the world turns us.

Thank you so much! Okay, you said to write more and I needed to hear that, you know? So, last night this came to my mind. http://www.originalpoetry.com/myaccount/poem/98112 Thank you for the encouragement, I needed it because I have been away from writing for a long while. I am so happy to be doing it again, it is my passion.

Beautifully written. I really love your writing. Hold on to those dreams!!!

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
