Like a Baby to a Breast

    Tonight you hate me

    Tonight you are leaving me

My dependence on you is no less than that of a baby’s to her mothers’ breast

    But tonight you hate me

    And you probably have always

It’s that I always begged you not to

    And tried to believe

    Tried to believe

    Tonight you hate me

    Tonight you are leaving me

My dependence on you is no less than that of a baby’s to her mothers’ breast

    But you hate me

    And that doesn't matter

No more no more no more no more no more no more

And tonight you pull me away

From something you know I need

    Because I did something

I did something foolish in your eyes

I did something foolish in your eyes

And you are wrapping this baby up

You are walking her out the door

You can't stand her cries of cold

    Her cries of need

And you are getting in the car

    And driving down the road

    To a place you know

    To a place you know

    No one will look

And your baby is crying in her seat

She is crying for the love she needs

    She can't comprehend

    It isn't there

    And she won't

    Now you stop the car

    And you get out

It is dark here, and you pull her out

    And walk down the street

To a dark place in between buildings

    Vacant cold and quiet

    Except for her crying

Wrap the blanket tighter; put it around her head to muffle

    So you can't hear

Because you are filled with hate for her

And as you lift the black lid

Your eyes and body are filled with hate

    Just drop her in

    Just drop her in

    Just drop her in

    Not a second thought

    No tear, regret or remorse

    And you walk away

    With her muffled cries

No less than a baby to a breast

No less than a baby to a breast

Here in the cold in the dark in the fear

    Here

    Here

    Here she will end

    Without a love

    Without a friend

Without the ability to make it through

She can't make it without you

    No one will find her

    In the vacant alleyway

    No one will hear her

    Covered and thrown away

    Covered and thrown away

And she is dead before the next morning

    Because

    Because

No less than a baby’s need to the mothers breast

    And once upon a time

    You called her babe

    But tonight you decided

She is no baby of yours

OhMyGod! Is it really that bad? Yes, it's true, once again with bulls eye accuracy you nailed it by analogy; The excruciating pain of the loss of one who was truly loved. Thank you. I really love your work!

The poem is good and has much feeling, I hope that the story you are telling is not true, Critique, tone down the repetition

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
