Life As We Know It
I don’t want your world of greed
I don’t care of your race, sex, or creed
By drugs we are ripped apart
Money is your concern, not heart
Master of hate, controlling what should and should not be
Don’t preach your bullshit to me
I’m just an average Joe gettin’ by
So don’t point your finger to ask me why
It’s just heaven and hell-
To live in a society on the hill
To watch as our children grow
And teach them what they shouldn’t know
Humanity of rape, murder, and mayhem
We raised posterity, so don’t blame them
Innocence no longer existing
Hatred on the brink of lynching
Go back, back to a better life known before
Those days when we didn’t have to even the score
But those days never existed-
‘Cause once man walked this planet
He started taking everything for granted
The air we once inhaled
Just knock out the trees and everything entailed
We go to bed at night and dream of tomorrow
But when the morrow comes, let down in sorrow
Mankind stabbing his neighbor
All the while, we still favor-
The white man over everyone
Look what nepotism has done
Watch the television
Bruises and abrasions
Was life ever fair?
Yes, but we have destroyed it beyond repair
Your gun, bigger than mine
It must be for me to give you my time
Pride is what holds you together
Actually, it’s what rips us apart at the center
Your selfishness and selflessness-
Are atrocities I can no longer list
