"Let You In"

Against my will
I let you in,
You said I'd never hurt again.

It took some time
You stood your ground,
But finally I came around.

You made me laugh
You made me trust,
 You held me tight even when I fussed.

I said I'd never love again,
I said I wouldn't let you in.

And then I did...Ha, fooled again;
Why did I let you in?

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
