In This Room

In this room,
So damp and cold,
Blood splattered on the wall
Reveal the terror of stories untold,
where dark truths are yet to be exposed,

God was only one who knew what happened,
When the door was closed.

In this room,
Like hell with no fire,
I remember being tied down
With leather & barbed wire,
Memories of what took place
Disgust me ever so much
I want to hide my face.

In this room,
Where I released my pain,
By writing down my stories
Though I thought I was insane,
Nobody knew and nobody cared
What happened that night
That left me so impaired.

In this room
Where I often sat to cry,
Wondering if you knew
How badly I wanted you to die,
Did ever you have a clue
Of what your torture did to me
And the reasons that I wanted to kill you.

In this room
Where nothing could save my soul,
I begged for God's forgiveness
As I picked up that pistol,
Instead of hearing of your death
The one I prayed would take place
It is I who would end it, with my final breath.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
