HELP!
The wind blew and the water rose.
It continued to rise, till it was up to my nose.
I was so scared, I didn't know what to do.
Half submerged houses, were my only view.
I managed to climbed, on top of someone's home.
No-one was there, I was all alone.
I sat and waited, but nobody came.
I'm thinking life in New Orleans, would never be same.
A few days went by, then felonies and misdemeanors.
If it was any other town, I'm sure I'd seen FEMA.
But FEMA didn't arrive, we were on our own.
I'm thinking the government's heart, is made of stone.
I climbed off the roof, down into the water so deep.
I'd made up my mind, I'd be no casualty.
I searched for others, that maybe alive.
We had to help each other, if we were to survive.
When the National Guard, finally came in
snipers in buildings, started firing on them.
They weren't prepared for this, they were outnumbered.
I wasn't surprised at all, at another, government blunder.
The thought of help, quickly crashed and burned.
Could it be, that black lives, are of no, concern.
Then reality hit, lives continued to go;
and the ones that lived, had little babies in tow.
Shelters were set up, with poor sanitation.
Lack of food and fresh water, was the main situation.
Rage and violence, erupted all around.
For the will to survive, quickly infested this town.
We were bused away, all over the land.
I guess Bush is doing, whatever he can.
Who knows when it's time, when we can finally move back.
Hopefully this will be an issue, when we're thru with Iraq.
It continued to rise, till it was up to my nose.
