Forever and For Always

Forever and For Always

When everyone else treated you differently
I treated you the same
When everyone else thought you frail and weak
I thought you the strongest man in the world
When everyone else cowered before you
I stood strong and looked you in the eye
When you were forgetful and everyone made fun
I told them to shut up and I made you remember
When you were no longer able to be alone
I was there so you didn’t have to be

When I was hurt and in pain
You rushed to my aid
When I was made fun of and laughed at
You were there to hurt whoever did it
When I was scared and cowered
You stood up and fought off the danger
When I was alone and crying
You were gentle and sweet
When I was happy and exited
You were there to share my joy
When I hid deep inside myself where no one else could ever find me
You alone were there to bring me back

We were there for each other through thick and thin
As we will always be until both our frightening ends

To my dearest, closest and best friend,
May you rest in peace

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
