Face In The Crowd

Face In The Crowd

I saw you standing in the crowd
Staring at me with a smile, as if you cared
I smiled back showing you my dare

You nodded and walked away and left me standing there
without saying hello, or goodbye
as you disappeared through the mingling crowd
I wondered why

I searched for your eyes
as your stare has intrigued me
As I have never seen you before
and hurried to catch up with you,
to ask you why

Like a ghost you appeared
and disappeared without a trace
leaving me with this thrilling fear of
 you watching me
not knowing if you are there

 In every crowd
I searched for your face which had
captured my memory
and I seek you face in vain
not seeing you ever again
your face has stuck to me like a
phantom memory

Always thinking you are there
somewhere in the crowd,
your eyes always watching me

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
