Eye for an Eye

  • I am the sand that pours down the hour glass awaiting to know if I'm half empty or half full, i am usurped by the power of time...

Eye for an Eye

I sold a book to a blind man,
and he read it with his heart...
An eye for an eye leaves everybody blind,
an ocular lynching, their vision knows no peace...

The bitter sweet taste of revenge,
adds leprosy to ones invisible skin...
Indulged in ounces, gallons, and liters,
produced fornicators, lairs and cheaters...

To not be jaded, the blind man hesitated,
and asked for my ears to hark...
He said, "have you read this book?"
I answered "no..." Then i began to depart...

He made one final statement,
I listened because I'm smart...
He said, "I am your conscience..."
then dissapeared after that remark...

After that day I changed my life,
no longer seeking justice...
Because of my conscience, my sight is indebted,
forgive and forget is the message imbedded...

Power through meekness. I had a conversation with someone about that not long ago. Makes one wonder what true strength is. The power to control? The power to let go of control? Somewhere inbetween? Well worded poem that has me thinking of its undermeanings.......

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
