dressed in white
tomorrow I'll wake up torn from my skinwatching life from a box someone else put me in
as I leave bloody fingerprint smears on the glass
of the one lonely window in four walls of black
I'll watch her arrive, head to toe, dressed in white
before I realize
all those endless drives with the world flying by
and the dashboard footprints she left behind
were the little reminders to live through the days
of a self-calloused soul when I threw her away
and I'll watch her arrive, head to toe, dressed in white
before I realize
that night after night in this room without light
I'll scribble on pages and argue and fight
with the thoughts that I'm left to consume every morning
from the dreams that invade my bed without warning
and I'll watch her arrive, head to toe, dressed in white
before I realize, I never tried
'cause I can be as damaged as I appear
a slow dying waste of a forgotten tear
but as the snow kisses trees over white covered ground
I'll remember your warmth and miss you around
