Death's Eyes

Death's Eyes

Streets of death and vines
Roads of filth and decay
The yellow eyes of a feline
In the world of death's eyes
They hold no love, no mercy
They are not good nor are they evil
They are neutral
In death's eyes the world is a black void of nothingness
With no warmth or light
It's a dark vortex from which none can return
In death's eyes, all are equal
There is no better or worse
There is just darkness and utter silence
Life lies buried in the dirt
There is refuge, my love, in death's eyes

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
