    Sticks and Stones

Sticks and stones may break my bones
But words could break my soul
They float to me like an ethereal song
Such trickery making the world spin out of control
Friends are enemies, enemies are friends
Words of friendship mean utmost destruction
Words of utmost destruction mean the same

Sticks and stones may break my bones
But my words could destory you
My eyes hold kindness, but my mind holds evil
Blinded by the words of an enemy
Who wears the mask of a dear friend

    Don't take off the mask
For under it is a foul beast
Unleash the weapon of mass destruction
That could make peace or make chaos
    With only one simple phrase
Rip the world apart with your evil heart
One day your mask won't hide you
That day will be soon, devouring you slowly
Until nothing is left but ash

Sticks and stones may break my bones
But your words will destory you
And soon, very soon you'll be the victim too

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
