    Caustic Strokes

    Stark sadness
    Gone from me
    My passion of red
    A darkened hue
    Merely a clouded gore

    Once a raging fire
    No longer such intensity
    Like a faded ember

    Caustic strokes
    Bluster the surface
    Bleeding through
    Flooding my skin

    It hurts
    I cannot breathe
    Heaviness has come
    Upon me
    Within me
    Defiling me

    I reproach myself
    But was it I
    Was it to be
    I am not aware

    Of this Im sure
    I loved
    I love
    I breathed
    I breathe
    Is it to be
    No more....

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
