Cascading Upward
Once upon a dream it seems you're floating on a cloud
Real deal's not what you see and your subconscious screams aloud
Your everyday so far away, your mind becomes unbound
Although it is your goal in sleep your peace remains unfound
You toss & turn & writhe & burn, emotions so profound
Flitting to the surface dark disperses thoughts around
When awakened sunlight bakes you, the rays they burn your eyes
Your focus clears and morning rears importance yet to shine
You force yourself to carry on the tasks this day unwinds
Considering evening may bring content you've yet to find
Too many days have grayed like faceless passersby
But when indeed your freedom rings you'll spread your wings and fly
Your understanding mounts in measures also known as bliss
Like feelings of your innocence, your first love, your first kiss
You may look back on pleasures past and stars that bore your wish
Yet future feats reveal in beats the virtues you once missed
The conscious you defines your view & misfortune you'll dismiss
You'll arrive at ease and seize the cause of pains upon your list
Next you realize the hard times are a necessary plight
They balance out the ecstacies and divinities of life
Without an opposition our positions seek no height
For highs & lows & in-betweens compose our human rights
Knowledge is the key, the door's a passage vast in light
Determination drives you deep inside and faith secures you tight
All that you will ever be you have been all along
You've been deterred by teachings preaching what's right & what's wrong
The essence of your spirit sings eternal blessed songs
Just close your eyes and open your mind to hear where you belong
Your truths are simply memories your youth has since prolonged
'Cause God is you and you are God, spoken in uncommon dialogue ~
