Broken Dream, Broken Promise, a Broken Heart

I am stretched to my limit
I am being drowned by the rain
Can't help but shudder in sorrow
Can't help but wince with pain

It was a life thought to be forever
A life that was suppose to last
But now waves of grief come
And all hope is stuck in the past

There is a truth that cuts deep
    A truth that cuts sharp
    It pierces with painful reminders
Tearing at the muscles of my heart

    This cannot be my life
I've never had a pain so great
But it seems that is all I have
A brokenness no laughter can medicate

But know that I will always remember
Know that I will never forget
I had you for a reason
And that I will never regret

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
