Something To Hold on To
The sun is resting on the grass
And I'm a million miles from no where
My smile and heart just got stolen
But no one seems to care
I spent my life trying to reach the top
I thought it would be safe up there
But the wind blows cold
It blew me over, face down
Face Down
Between his shoe and the ground
It's hard to get past the numbness
Hard to see, hard to feel
The pressure makes my veins weak
About to burst, about to leak
With fear, not knowing where to look
I look to what is closest
And in the dirt I find
Helpless, a small plastic Jesus
And I think to myself and say
"I can still pray."
"Yes, I can still pray."
I kiss the face and look to the sky
I haven't seen it in a while
My worries seem to drift by
I leave the pain, all the hurt
Cast everything aside
I let the rest of the world fall asleep in emptiness
And now I am the one left standing
With a blessing still in hand, I say goodbye
Goodbye to the restlessness, every nightmare, all demanding
I touch the heart of the nameless
And go beneath an unknown sky
Embrace the faceless
Blurry vision as the wind blows by
And I'm a million miles from no where
My smile and heart just got stolen
But no one seems to care
I spent my life trying to reach the top
I thought it would be safe up there
But the wind blows cold
It blew me over, face down
Face Down
Between his shoe and the ground
It's hard to get past the numbness
Hard to see, hard to feel
The pressure makes my veins weak
About to burst, about to leak
With fear, not knowing where to look
I look to what is closest
And in the dirt I find
Helpless, a small plastic Jesus
And I think to myself and say
"I can still pray."
"Yes, I can still pray."
I kiss the face and look to the sky
I haven't seen it in a while
My worries seem to drift by
I leave the pain, all the hurt
Cast everything aside
I let the rest of the world fall asleep in emptiness
And now I am the one left standing
With a blessing still in hand, I say goodbye
Goodbye to the restlessness, every nightmare, all demanding
I touch the heart of the nameless
And go beneath an unknown sky
Embrace the faceless
Blurry vision as the wind blows by
