Bonded By A Little Boy

When I met her, she was as square as can be
This young, innocent, and vibrant young lady
She was assigned to me to train
I thought, oh great, how lame!

Little did I know how much she had grown
In a year's time, she had blossomed
Over the years, I had watched her
Expand her knowledge, furthered her education,
And flourished into the strongest and smartest woman I know

We didn't know it, but it turned out
We were destined to be good friends
Today we are as close as best friends could be
We kick ourselves in the ass
And laugh at all the years
It had taken for us to become friends

Fast forward to present
We love where we are
We cherish our friendship
We love each other like two sisters should
I am here for her
And I know she'll be there for me

We've formed a special bond
A bond no one can break
A bond no one will take
For this friendship, I shall thank
Thank a little boy
A little boy who stole my heart
A little boy we call Bubba
A little boy name Wyatt

Thank you Wyatt for stealing my heart
Thank you Wyatt for the friendship your mom and I have
You are the reason we have what we have
Thank you Wyatt!

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
