Autumn
it creeps in around your heels at first no one knows itso faint at first just a hint of what is yet to come
the sun is warm but cooling the trees already know
for deep in their beds they are yearning to go
it drops in throught the late summer rain and wraps around
like a sweeter
it starts a stirring of the leaves as the wind makes the dance
bursting into color before whirling to the ground
viberant colors come to life green yellow orange and red until they fall through the crisp air and collide with the ground then once more they shed their paint
for a new of earthy brown
early morning fog will tell although its yet too soon
for summer is just wanning but it has begun
the woody smell from the chimney pots will give off the best clue
the earthy scent like a reminder of the bountiful havest that is nigh in
full bloom
and hickory nuts do tumble down, pray you watch your head
for they crash down in great fleeting thrusts to make the ground their bed
and up a head the geese they fly they give a honk as they pass by not yet
will they take their trip but practice to prepare for it
now it whispers its name and you knew it all along
the season has changed and though its not yet time to call
the Autumn has come for it is now Fall
