    • To be set free, but locked away in my own cell of fear

    August Rush

I've lived years without my father
I never took a second to think why
To me, it was never really a bother
I never even felt i had to cry

    Living without that biological connection
I was clueless to what was going to come next
Always lingering was that missing affection
    Everything just seemed so complex

    Poetry played a silent melody
That brushed against the wind to the stars
Pen to paper i always belonged
Not knowing this song was ours

An overdue phone call and a few interviews later
Came a new relationship worth trying out
It turned to be something so much greater
This synchronized talent we didn't know about

    I've never held a grudge
Since there's always a reason for what's done
No one ever needed to nudge
And this gift has only just begun

    Everything was easygoing
Like we've been together my whole life
And til this day we're both still growing
    Moving forward without strife

    Better late than never
    He's made a successful effort
I was used to living without him...however
Being his daughter came with great comfort

    I have him back
Living in a realm of poetic creations
Starting again on the right track
Therefore i wish him a congratulations

    He regained a daughter
    I regained my father
We were always linked before we knew
And now we can write our story anew

I love a poem that tells a story and you brought this one together so well. I wrote a poem about how a father feels toward their daughter "Daddy's Girl" If you get time check it out you might enjoy it. A 10 from me on this write.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

    T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
