An American Angel

An American Angel

You watched one of our
Own,
As she cried in fear,
It tore your heart
And brought a tear.
The enemy stood over
And took her grace,
You only wish
You could take her place.
You walked for miles
But saw not a one
Of the American soldiers
Fighting of daughter and son.
Your prayer was answered
From the mirage ahead
For heaven’s eyes
Watched over her bed.
You spoke of words we
Longed to hear,
That one of our own
Was very near.
You took us to her
And guided us through
The enemy night
So powerful and true.
The sight before you
Spoke loud and clear,
For her face no longer
Showed those eyes of fear.
From that night many
Heroes were born
On the Iraqi soil,
Of blood and scorn.
A soldiers hand
Reached out to you,
To hold the strength
Of an AMERICAN ANGEL

An in depth write pertaining to our fighting women and men. Hats off to them for walking the ground that they do. Great write! Bear

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
